UM Diagnostics has confirmed that its COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test can detect mutations present in several heat-inactivated variant strains. While the test’s performance has not been evaluated against all circulating variants, it is expected to accurately identify the dominant strains prevalent in a given location at the time of use. However, the test’s effectiveness may fluctuate over time due to the emergence and spread of new SARS-CoV-2 variants.
This test can be used at home without supervision by individuals aged 15 or older who collect their own nasal swabs. Adults can also collect nasal swabs for children aged 2 or older.
This test can be used by anyone, vaccinated or unvaccinated, as often as necessary.
If you have no COVID-19 symptoms, you’ll need to take two tests spaced 24 to 48 hours apart within a two or three day period.
